Gennady Fomin and Friends East meets West

Kultur- und Bildungszentrum der Jüdischen Landesgemeinde

Clarinetist Gennady Fomin, a member of one of the most famous and oldest klezmer bands in the former Soviet Union, the Kharkiv Klezmer Band (Kharkiv, Ukraine), appears at YSW for the first time with a very special band including flutist Daria Fomina, his own daughter; violinist Mark Kovnatskiy; and pianist/accordion & artistic director of Yiddish Summer Weimar, Alan Bern.

Fomin has performed throughout Western Europe; in many cities in Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus; and in Canada. He is also a highly respected teacher who is much in demand at international klezmer festivals and has trained many younger klezmer musicians.

An evening of heart-warming, familiar klezmer tunes as well as fascinating new musical discoveries performed with passion and humor awaits the audience at this premiere performance of Gennady Fomin & Friends!
